The Ferrari TR-61 was the last of the Testa Rossas, and along with the single 330 TRI/LM of 1962, the last of the front-engined Ferrari sports racers.  With its low shark nose and high rear bodywork, the TR-61 presaged the look of the mid-engined cars that were to replace it.  This car is a careful replication of the original, with a correct tubular space frame and hand-formed aluminum body driven by a dry-sumped 250 V-12 engine and Ferrari transmission.  It would be equally at home on the street, on a tour, or on the track.

  • Constructed in the mid-1990s by Mark Gerisch of ML Auto Specialists in Two Rivers WI to special order. Gerisch is a renowned craftsman, having been chosen by Ford to create their GTX1 concept car.

  • This car was built using the  front cross member from donor 365GT # 13123.

  • The frame design and rear suspension are very accurate reproductions of the original TR 61, the front suspension is from the donor Ferrari.

  • The rear suspension is a complex multi-link IRS design derived from the transaxle designs Ferrari was developing for the Dino sports racers of the early ‘60s and utilized on the TR 61.  The differential on this car is from the 365 GT.

  • The body is an extremely accurate reproduction of the Fantuzzi body from the original TR 61 factory racers hand constructed in aluminum and finished almost without any body filler below the paint.

  • The engine is a correct 250 V-12 originally from a Lusso, it was built in our shop, is dry sumped and uses the correct six downdraft Webers.

  • The transmission is a Ferrari synchromesh 5-speed from the 365 GT.

  • The car is effectively new, with under 1000 miles of total usage since it was built.  It has been stored and maintained in our shop from its original delivery.

  • It is fully street legal and comfortable to drive on the street, and has been vintage raced at Elkhart Lake WI, where it proved itself to be a competent and excellent-handling car on the track.
